Plot and Theme Subtext

Give me 50 +/- 10 words describing the religious angles you've noted thus far. By the way, use the built in spell checker.

Thus far it seems that the preacher in HPD is a pansy, who has no backbone, and is not man enough to stand up to the town leaders and their dark past. Therefore his ideas and suggestions hold no weight among the town's leaders.

I agree with what Ryan wrote. I also believe that Sara Belding is probably the closest example of a Christian that we are going to find in HPD, she did try to stop them from killing the marshall. Her husband and the preacher, on the other hand, criticized Eastwood's character for committing "sins of the flesh," but they and the others, are nothing but liars, murderers, and hypocrites.

Good. He won't charge them "one cent more than regular rates."

I agree with Ryan and Stephanie. The preacher will not truly stand up for what he believes in. He "talks the talk but does not walk the walk". He has the right heart, he wants to change the ways of the townspeople but it takes more than just having the right heart.

I agree with Ryan. The precher does not stand for what he is suppose to stand for.

The preacher wants to do the right thing but he just doesn't seem the forceful type who can make the townspeople think about the things that are wrong in their life and change the way they live.

Like I said earlier, there is no religous angle in High Plains Drifter. Jesus is not in the movie, nor the Apostles and I did not see one holy moment througout the entire movie. I saw premarital sex, violence and cursing.

Mordecai was a character in a bible story which involved a plot against the king.

The whole town is a bunch of weaklings that depend on two men to tell them what to do. If anyone had any backbone than there would of not been any killings, or rapes in this movie. When a religious leader of a town fall from the grace of god ,so does the whole town.

The only person that came close to being an angel is Sarah because when Mordecai was having his flash back she was the only one willing to try and help the marshell. The preacher and the rest of the town just stood and watched and never bothered to offer help.

I have to agree with Marks. The people of the town have no backbone at all. The men are truly not man enough to stand up for what is just. HPD is a good example of what not to be, but of what society has become and just as the drifter said that he just lives with the sins he's committed and doesn't think anything of it, so people have become desensitized to the corruption of this world.

The religien in the town is a joke. The preacher is corrupt like the rest of the town on the ways of the world. It seems like the onlone who has their heads on right is mordicai and that sarah girl.
